104th Fighter Wing

When you hear the roaring of the jet engines taking off, you know you’re near the air base of Westfield’s 104^th Fighter Wing. Having been in Westfield since 1947 they are a pillar in the community. The base is home to almost 1,000 civilians and military personnel combined. They provide support for domestic, humanitarian and combat operations worldwide to keep our country protected. We wanted to highlight the great work they do.

The 104^th is active within our community, whether it be scrambling up eggs for the Greater Westfield Chamber of Commerce breakfasts or donating coats to kids in need. These local heroes reside in Westfield and surrounding towns and have the prestige of being one of the oldest flying units within the commonwealth of Massachusetts. Many of the brave men and women who make up the 104^th are your neighbors- they live in your town; they shop at your grocery store and are a part of what make the community so valuable.
